Tasting Notes:
The 2022 is a Chardonnay that's very approachable right now, there are notes of white peach, almond meal, flint, and subtle vanilla. The palate is textured with nice phenolics, stone fruit and citrus, the general concentration of this low yielding season is on show.
Winemaking Notes:
Hand-picked on the 4th of March
Vinification & Elevage: Pressed to a mix of French oak (10% new) barriques and puncheons for wild fermentation and on lees for 10 months.
Viticultural Notes:
This Chardonnay is made from low cropped, hand harvested I10V3, Mendoza and Gin Gin Chardonnay clones from 21-year-old vines.
2022 will be remembered for the tiniest yields in a decade resulting from poor flowering conditions in our parts of the Yarra Valley. The quality of the resultant wines of this vintage however are outstanding with both concentration and finesse.
