2003 ESTATE CHARDONNAY
JAMES HALLIDAY, AUSTRALIAN WINE COMPANION
2006 Edition
Light green-yellow; very elegant and graceful; skillful marriage of barrel ferment and creamy malolactic inputs to melon and nectarine fruit; very good length. Rating 95 Drink 2010
MAX ALLEN, THE WEEKEND AUSTRALIAN
9-10 April 2005
There are three wines in the Toolangi chardonnay universe: a $20-ish "intro" wine (nice, simple); a $60 "reserve" (full, heavily worked); and this, which offers the best combination of floral citrus fruit, oaky complexity, rich persistence and value. It should even cellar well for a few years.
BEN CANAIDER 2005
Melon, stone fruit kernals, flint, smokey oak, and perfectly balanced acidity. Nutty, savoury and a lemony after-taste. The wine stays well and truly on track, proving to be longer and leaner than the initial fruit weight suggests.
