2003 RESERVE CHARDONNAY
HUON HOOKE, GOOD WEEKEND, THE AGE
16 April 2005
This is a wine to make you sit down and shut up; a wine to meditate on. I enjoyed it by itself, with roast pork and apple sauce, and with a handful of plain Kettle chips. You could drink it with many other things: it would set off a grilled lobster perfectly, or barbecued prawns, or a stuffed and roasted chook. It's that kind of wine. Sheer magic.

2006 Edition
Light to medium green-yellow; textured, complex and powerful, showing its 14% alcohol; ripe fig, hazelnut and peach fruit; balanced acidity. Rating 94. Drink 2009.
RALPH KYTE-POWELL, THE AGE EPICURE

This fascinating Yarra chardonnay is driven in part by savoury, solids-derived complexity rather than sweet fruit. Made by Giaconda's Rick Kinzbrunner, the '03 is an elaborate style, with plenty of nutty, mealy and leesy touches to subtle fruit. Texture is superb: velvety, harmonious and complete.
Ageing? Yes, should develop well over five years.
