2003 RESERVE PINOT NOIR
JAMES HALLIDAY, AUSTRALIAN WINE COMPANION
2007 Edition
Deeper colour; a bigger wine in all respects than the varietal version; intense fruit, but sumo wrestler tannins will intimidate some; 90 cases made by Matt Harrop. Cork. 14% alc. Rating: 93. Drink: 2012. $90.
CAMPBELL MATTINSON, WINEFRONT MAGAZINE
February 2006
This is a very good wine. It's got a sheathing bite of tannin and clear, cleansing acidity, the flavours an amalgam of dried leaves and toffee, fennel and sappy cherries. There's even a race of dried tobacco, which I love. To be perfectly honest, at first I wasn't particularly enamored, but it built over a couple of hours in the glass, a high-glossy, complex style being gradually unveiled. Drink: 2008-2014. 91 points.
