2005 ESTATE CHARDONNAY

JAMES HALLIDAY, AUSTRALIAN WINE COMPANION
2009 Edition

Pale straw-green; immaculate balance of supple, smooth nectarine fruit and perfectly integrated oak. Rating: 95. To: 2013.

JEREMY OLIVER, THE AUSTRALIAN WINE ANNUAL 2008

An elegant, polished and measured chardonny whose delicate citrusy fragrance of melon, grapefruit and fresh vanilla and nutty oak reveals faint smoky, bacony undertones. Finely crafted and neatly balanced, it's fine and measured, delivering a lingering and lightly creamy expression of limey, cumquat-like flavour and slightly dusty, nutty oak that culminates in a fresh, lemony finish.

NICK STOCK
THE PENGUIN GOOD AUSTRALIAN WINE GUIDE 2009

These Toolangi chardonnays are right on form, showing cryptic savoury aromas, some green melon and fine oak-derived complexity – cool and youthful. In the mouth it’s zesty and crisp with bright acid crunch, smooth nutty complexity; well dressed in complex winemaking, fine and long. Looks sharp.
Score: 93. Quality: 4.5 stars. Alc/Vol: 13.5%. Drink: 2009. Closure: screwcap.

WINSOR DOBBIN, THE GOLF MAGAZINE
December 2007

Too many Australian chardonnays remain big, blousy, overblown creatures. This wine, from one of the best wineries in the Yarra Valley, is the complete antithesis: crisp and flinty, with stone fruit and mineral characters on both the nose and palate. Considerable elegance and charm.

JENI PORT, THE AGE EPICURE
14 August 2007

Strong, solid fruit qualities with nectarine, pear and quince joined by a light nuttiness and minerality. Made at Yering Station.

GOURMET TRAVELLER WINE
QANTAS INFLIGHT GUIDE TO WINE, 2nd Edition

A cool environs delivers fruit of intensity and finesse. Condensed aromas of stone fruit resolve to an oak-derived bouquet of toast and lemon myrtle. On the palate, fig and honeydew melon flow to oatmeal biscuit, wild honey and nougat, the finish shaped by pleasing tannins.
