2007 PINOT NOIR
OFF THE VINE WITH MARK SMITH, THE EXAMINER
10 May 2009
Toolangi's Yarra Valley vineyard was very fortunate to survive February's devastating bushfires with only minor damage. The Dixon’s Creek site is a proven performer with top class pinot, so let’s hope we see production returning to normal soon. In the meantime, try the new 2007 pinot. It's a wonderfully fragrant and ethereal wine with real finesse and elegance. Very pretty. Its fine tannin/acid will see it continue to improve.
KERRY SKINNER, GRAPE EXPECTATIONS
ILLAWARRA MERCURY, 13 May 2009
The Yarra Valley based Toolangi provides some of the best pinot fruit in the country. This perfectly poised pinot was made for Julie and Garry Hounsell at Shadowfax and Yering Station and the final blending took place at Shadowfax. It’s textured and smooth in the mouth with cherry and red berry fruit on the nose and palate, savoury characters, terrific oak and silky smooth tannins. Drink with roast duck.

From Toolangi's Yarra Valley vineyard, this shows dark cherry and strawberry fruit on the nose and palate with restrained oak and silky tannis. Enjoy now with roast duck or game or cellar for three years or so. Rating: 92
