2008 CHARDONNAY

JAMES HALLIDAY, AUSTRALIAN WINE COMPANION
2011 Edition

Part estate-grown, part from Yarra Glen contract-grown fruit, part made at Shadowfax, part at Yering Station (where the wine was blended and bottled). Complex, certainly, but more focused than one might expect, with white peach, nectarine and grilled nut flavours through to a long finish.

It’s little wonder drinkers are flocking back to chardonnay in their droves. Crafted by the winemaking teams at Shadowfax and Yering Station for Toolangi owners Garry and Julie Hounsell, this is a real stunner. Elegant and classy with aromatic, pristine stonefruit flavours, integrated nutty characters, unobtrusive oak and a lingering, clean finish. Drink with lobster.

BEN KNIGHT, THE MELBOURNE WEEKLY
16-22 June 2010

Recently released from one of Victoria’s top chardonnay producers, the Toolangi is fresh and bright, driven by citrus acidity and peachy notes, with subtle baking spice from the oak. It is still a young wine and will fill out nicely over the next two to three years.
