2015 James Halliday Wine Companion

Tuesday, August 05, 2014

Toolangi is thrilled to again be awarded 5 Red Star outstanding winery status, with 11 of our current release wines scoring over 93 in this and prior editions.

The yet to be released 2012 Pauls Lane Chardonnay received an outstanding rating of 97.

Hand-picked from estate vineyards, made at Oakridge, barrel-fermented and aged in French oak for 11 months. Here the flinty reduction of the bouquet is more obvious than the standard version, but still well within bounds as far as I am concerned. Greater concentration and intensity of the fruit is very obvious; from this perspe4ctive, a prime example of the importance of terroir. Will live for an inordinately long time. Rating 97. Drink to 2025.

Estate-grown, hand-picked grapes from especially low-cropped vines, made at Oakridge, aged in French barriques for 10 months. The colour is a little deeper than its sibling; the bouquet is frangrant and expressive,m the medium-bodied palate following suit, with cherry and plum fruit in the ascendant, oak evident, but in balanced harmony; silky tannins sustain the long finish. Rating 95. Drink to 2021

Pristine fruit...

When next travelling Qantas keep your eye out for the 2011 Toolangi Pauls Lane Pinot Noir.

"The Toolangi vineyards are at Dixon's Creek and the cool-growing environs yield pristine fruit of intensity and finesse. A delicate strawberry and redcurrent perfume with hints of classic sous bois flows smoothly to a supple, spicy palate with an ethereal finish."

2010 Estate Chardonnay, Winestate "Best Wines of 2013"

Monday, February 17, 2014

The Toolangi 2010 Estate Chardonnay was named as one of the Best Wines of 2013 in the Winestate 2014 Annual.

"A modern style of chardonnay with some well handled oak sitting on top of melon-like varietal fruit. The nose is bright and light, the palate fresh and lively with a lingering finish. Five stars."

2011 Pinot Noir Review by Huon Hooke

Wednesday, May 29, 2013

We've had excellent reviews of the 2011 Toolangi Pinot Noir including this one from Huon Hooke.

.. A sexy little wine.

"Light red colour, faint purple edges. Floral, raspberry, strawberry aromas, fresh and primary, light and charming. This is a sexy little wine. It also finishes with a more serious grip than expected. And greater length. Nice fruit, and it has more concentration than a lot of 2011s. I really enjoyed this. 90 points."

Fun at Noosa Food and Wine Festival

Tuesday, May 28, 2013

We had a busy weekend at the Noosa Food and Wine Festival which attracted a record crowd. Wonderful weather and an "A" list of guest chefs and winemakers were the attraction. We had a wonderful response to our wines which we poured over the Saturday and Sunday. Garry and I were also lucky enough to attend the Premium International Degustation dinner held at Berardo's Restaurant which was amazing. Our 2010 Estate Chardonnay had been selected by Huon Hooke as the wine which was served with Tetsuya Wakuda's Spanner Crab and Yuzu Caviar dish.

Ralph Kyte-Powell reviews the 2010 Toolangi Estate Chardonnay

Wednesday, May 01, 2013

Another great review for our award wining 2010 Estate Chardonnay.

"Beautifully balanced, this wine opens with white peach, lemon and a smoky whiff of nutty background oak. Poised and rich, it has silky texture and a lingering vibrant finish. Ageing? Drink over three years. Food Ideas: Salmon; fried scallops."
